Hadith 451
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when an Ansari companion came, greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with salam, and then turned to leave. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "O Ansari brother! How is my brother Sa'd?" He replied, "He is well." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Who among you will visit him?" (Saying this) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and we also stood up with him. There were more people with us, and we had neither shoes, nor socks, nor caps, nor shirts (this was the height of the Companions' asceticism and their disinterest in the world), and we walked on that stony ground until we reached him. And those who were with Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) moved aside, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who came with him went to him.
