Hadith 449
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that it was the noble habit of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that when a strong wind would blow, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite this supplication: “O Allah, I ask You for the goodness of this wind, the goodness within it, and the goodness of what it has been sent with. And I seek refuge with You from its evil, the evil within it, and the evil of what it has been sent with.” And Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when clouds appeared in the sky and there was thunder and lightning, (out of fear) the color of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) face would change, and sometimes he would go outside, sometimes come inside, sometimes move forward, and sometimes move backward. Then, if it started to rain, the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) anxiety would go away. Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that I recognized this from the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I asked him about it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “O Aisha! I fear that it may be as it was with the people of ‘Ad, who saw: ‘This is a cloud coming towards us,’ and they said, ‘This cloud will bring us rain,’ (but it was the punishment coming upon them).”
