Hadith 437
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prayer of a traveler in Mina, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) also did so, and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also performed the prayer of a traveler for eight years (or he said: for six years). Hafs (i.e., Ibn Asim) said that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would perform two rak‘ahs in Mina and then come to his bedding, so I said: O my uncle! If only you would perform two more rak‘ahs after the obligatory (i.e., the Sunnah)? He replied: If I were to do so, I would complete my obligatory prayer.
