Hadith 425
‘Umar bin ‘Ata says that Sayyiduna Nafi‘ bin Jubayr sent him to Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Akht Numayr to ask about the matter which Sayyiduna Mu‘awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) had noticed in his prayer. (When ‘Umar bin ‘Ata went and asked,) Sa’ib bin Akht Numayr said: Yes! I had performed the Friday prayer with him (Sayyiduna Mu‘awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him) at Maqsura (name of a place). When the Imam finished the prayer with salam, I stood at my place and started praying. Sayyiduna Mu‘awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent for me after entering (the house or a room, etc.), and said: Do not do today what you did again in the future. When you finish the Friday prayer, do not perform another prayer immediately until you have spoken or left that place. Because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us this. (He, peace and blessings be upon him, said in this way) that after one prayer, we should not perform another prayer immediately without speaking or leaving that place.
