Hadith 355
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the recitation in the Fajr prayer, he would (in the second rak‘ah) raise his blessed head from bowing and say: “Sami‘ Allahu liman hamidah, O our Lord! All praise is for You alone.” Then, while still standing, he would say: “O Allah! Rescue Walid bin Walid, Salama bin Hisham, and ‘Ayyash bin Abi Rabi‘ah (all of whom were Muslims in the hands of the disbelievers), and the weak among the believers (i.e., those who were oppressed by the people of Makkah). O Allah, make Your grip severe upon (the tribe of) Mudar. And inflict upon them a famine like that in the time of Yusuf (peace be upon him) (as occurred in Egypt for seven years). O Allah, curse Lihyan, Ri‘l, Dhakwan, and ‘Usayyah (those who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him).” Then news reached us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) abandoned this supplication when the following verse was revealed: “O Prophet! You have no authority in this matter. Allah may accept their repentance or punish them, for they are wrongdoers.” __QUR_N__
