Hadith 280
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that one day we were sitting in the gathering of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a light drowsiness overtook him. Then, smiling, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his blessed head, upon which we asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What are you smiling at?" He replied, "Just now a surah of the Noble Qur'an has been revealed to me." Then he recited "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" and recited the entire surah: '(O Noble Prophet [peace and blessings be upon him]!) Indeed, We have granted you Al-Kawthar...' and then said, "Do you know what Al-Kawthar is?" We said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "Al-Kawthar is a river which my Lord has promised me. It has many virtues, and on the Day of Resurrection, my followers will come to drink from this reservoir. There will be as many cups on this reservoir as there are stars in the sky. A person will be driven away from there, and I will say, 'O Allah! This person is from my followers.' Allah, the Exalted, will say, 'You do not know what new things (innovations) they introduced after you.'"
