Hadith 190
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Muslims came to Madinah, they used to estimate the time and gather to perform the prayer, and no one would make a call or anything similar. One day, the Muslims consulted each other about informing for prayer, whether they should ring a bell like the Christians or blow a horn like the Jews. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) suggested that a man should be appointed to inform the people for prayer. Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Bilal! Stand up and announce the prayer."
