Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Shihab Khawlani narrates that I stayed as a guest with Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her). I had a wet dream in my clothes, so I dipped them in water. The slave girl of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) saw me and went to inform her. Umm al-Mu’minin sent me a message asking why I had done that. I said that in my sleep I saw what a sleeper sees (i.e., a wet dream). Umm al-Mu’minin asked, “Did you see any trace (of semen) on your clothes?” I said, “No.” She said, “If you had seen anything on your clothes, even then washing that spot would have been sufficient. I used to scrape off the dried semen from the clothes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with my fingernails.”
