Hadith 129
It is narrated from Humran, who was the freed slave of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), that he said: Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) called for water for ablution and performed ablution. First, he washed both hands up to the wrists three times, then rinsed his mouth and put water into his nose. Then he washed his face three times, then washed his right hand up to the elbow, then washed his left hand three times, then wiped his head. Then he washed his right foot three times, then washed his left foot three times. After that, he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) perform ablution in the same way as I have just performed ablution. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever performs ablution like my ablution, then stands and prays two rak‘ahs, not letting his mind wander to anything else during them, his previous sins will be forgiven. Ibn Shihab said: Our scholars used to say that this ablution is the most complete of all ablutions performed for prayer.
