Hadith 118
It is narrated from Yazid bin Abi Habib that Abu'l-Khair told him: I saw Ibn Wahla al-Saba'i wearing a fur coat. I touched it, and he said: Ibn Wahla, why are you touching it (do you consider it impure)? I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): We live in the land of the Maghreb, where there are many Berber disbelievers and fire-worshippers. They bring slaughtered rams to us. We do not eat the animals they slaughter, and they bring skins filled with fat. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: The skin becomes pure by tanning (i.e., the skin becomes pure by tanning, even if a disbeliever has tanned it).
