Hadith 109
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When you go to the toilet, do not face the Qiblah nor turn your back towards it while urinating or defecating, but rather turn your face towards the east or the west. (This refers to those regions where the Qiblah is towards the north or south. For those whose Qiblah is towards the east or west, they should turn their faces towards the north or south instead of the east or west.) Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then we came to the land of Syria and saw that the latrines (toilets) were built facing the Qiblah, so we would turn our faces away from them and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty.
