Hadith 92
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the meat of the foreleg was presented to him, which he liked very much. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gnawed it with his teeth and said, "On the Day of Resurrection, I will be the leader of all people. And do you know for what reason? On the Day of Resurrection, Allah Almighty will gather all the former and latter generations in one plain, so much so that the caller’s voice will reach all of them and the sight of the onlooker will encompass all of them, and the sun will come near, and such distress and hardship will befall the people that they will not be able to bear it. Eventually, they will say to one another, 'See what hardship we are in! Is there no intercessor who can intercede for you with Allah Almighty?' Some will say, 'Go to Adam (peace be upon him),' so all of them will go to Adam (peace be upon him) and say to him, 'You are the father of all mankind, Allah created you with His own hand, breathed into you of His spirit, and commanded the angels to prostrate to you, and they prostrated to you. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in and the hardship we are suffering?' Adam (peace be upon him) will say, 'Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before and will never be after, and He forbade me from (eating from) the tree, but I disobeyed (and ate from it), so I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else, go to Noah (peace be upon him).' Then the people will go to Noah (peace be upon him) and say, 'O Noah! You were the first Messenger sent to the people of the earth, and Allah named you "a grateful servant." Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in and the hardship we are suffering?' He will say, 'Today Allah is so angry as He has never been before and will never be after, and I had a supplication (that would be accepted), and I used it against my people (in the form of a curse, which destroyed them), so I am concerned about myself. Go to Ibrahim (peace be upon him).' Then all will go to Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and say, 'You are Allah’s Prophet and His friend among the people of the earth. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in and the hardship we are suffering?' He will say, 'My Lord is very angry today, so angry as He has never been before and will never be after, and he will mention his lies (the three times he spoke ambiguously, which were in fact equivocations), so I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else, go to Musa (peace be upon him).' They will go to Musa (peace be upon him) and say, 'O Musa! You are Allah’s Messenger. Allah gave you superiority over all people with His message and His speech. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in and the hardship we are suffering?' Musa (peace be upon him) will say, 'Today my Lord is so angry as He has never been before and will never be after, and I killed a person in the world whom I was not commanded to kill, so I am concerned about myself. Go to Isa (peace be upon him).' They will go to Isa (peace be upon him) and say, 'O Isa! You are Allah’s Messenger, you spoke to people in the cradle, and you are His word which He cast to Maryam and a spirit from Him. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in and the hardship we are suffering?' Isa (peace be upon him) will say, 'Today my Lord is very angry, so angry as He has never been before and will never be after (and he will not mention any sin), I am concerned about myself. Go to someone else, go to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).' Then the people will come to me (Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him) and say, 'O Muhammad! You are Allah’s Messenger and the Seal of the Prophets, and Allah has forgiven your past and future sins. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see our state and the hardship we are suffering?' So, upon hearing this, I will proceed (from the plain of gathering) and come under the Throne and prostrate to my Lord. Then Allah Almighty will open my heart and teach me such praises and glorifications as He has not taught anyone before me (I will praise and glorify Him abundantly). Then (Allah Almighty) will say, 'O Muhammad! Raise your head and ask, you will be given; intercede, your intercession will be accepted.' I will raise my head and say, 'O my Lord, have mercy on my Ummah, O my Lord, have mercy on my Ummah.' It will be commanded, 'O Muhammad! Admit into Paradise from your Ummah those who will have no reckoning through the rightmost gate of Paradise, and they will also share with others in the other gates of Paradise (i.e., they may enter through those gates as well, but this gate is reserved for them).' (The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) 'By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad! The width of one of the gates of Paradise is like the distance between Makkah and Hajar (a city in Bahrain) or between Makkah and Busra (a city in Syria).' (The narrator is unsure.)
