Hadith 70
It is narrated from 'Urwah bin Zubair, and he was informed by Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (Sayyiduna Hakim) asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! What do you think about the good deeds I did in the time of ignorance, such as giving charity, freeing slaves, or maintaining family ties—will I get a reward for them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "You have accepted Islam upon the goodness that you had already done." (Meaning, that goodness remains, and now Islam has been added to it.)
