Hadith 45
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that some of the Companions came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked, "Such thoughts occur in our hearts that each of us considers it a great sin to even mention them (that is, we cannot say these thoughts because, God forbid, they are thoughts of disbelief or immorality, and it seems very difficult to utter them)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do such whispers occur to you?" The people replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is the very essence of faith."
