Hadith 34
Tariq bin Shihab says that the first person to begin the sermon before the prayer on the day of Eid was Marwan (the son of Hakam, who was the first caliph among the Umayyad caliphs). At that time, a man stood up and said that the prayer is before the sermon. Marwan said that this matter has been discontinued. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said that this man has fulfilled his duty. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever among you sees an evil (an act against the Shari'ah), let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do even that, then with his heart (i.e., consider it evil in his heart and be averse to it). That is the weakest level of faith.

Hadith 35
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Allah Almighty did not send any prophet before me but that he had disciples and companions from his nation who followed his way and obeyed his command. Then, after them, there appeared people who were unworthy, who said with their tongues what they did not do, and did deeds which they were not commanded to do. So whoever fights these unworthy people with his hand is a believer, and whoever fights them with his tongue (i.e., speaks against them and refutes their words) is also a believer, and whoever fights them with his heart (i.e., regards them as evil in his heart) is also a believer, and after that, there is not even a mustard seed’s weight of faith. (That is, if one does not even regard them as evil in his heart, then there is not even a particle of faith in him.)
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrated this hadith from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them both), was a freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He said: I narrated this hadith to Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), but he did not accept it and denied it. Coincidentally, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to me and stayed in Qanah (which is the name of a valley among the valleys of Madinah). So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) took me with him to visit Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) during his illness. I went with him. When we sat down, I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with them both) about this hadith, and he narrated it in the same way as I had narrated it to Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).
