‘Sayyiduna Ma'mar bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that’ the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever hoards is a sinner. People said to Sa'id bin al-Musayyib: You yourself hoard, so he replied: Sayyiduna Ma'mar (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrated this hadith, also used to hoard. (What is meant by this is that he did not hoard anything that people were in dire need of, rather he used to hoard olive oil, and this is permissible.)
