Hadith 931

Narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the year Makkah was conquered, he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in Makkah saying that Allah Almighty and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of alcohol, carrion, swine, and idols. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is the ruling regarding the fat of carrion? For it is used to caulk ships, it is applied to hides, and people use it for lighting." He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "No, it is forbidden." Then at that very moment he said, "May Allah destroy the Jews! When Allah made fat forbidden for them (i.e., its consumption), they melted it, then sold it and consumed its price."
