It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) permitted in the case of ‘Ariyyah (the definition of which has been mentioned in the previous hadith) that the people of a household may give an estimated amount of dried dates and in exchange purchase fresh dates on the tree to eat.
