Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood and mentioned five things. He (peace be upon him) said: 1. Allah, Glorious and Exalted is He, does not sleep, and it is not befitting for Him to sleep (because sleep is due to fatigue of muscles and body parts, and Allah is free from fatigue; secondly, sleep is heedlessness and akin to death, and Allah is free from that). 2. He is the One Who lowers and raises the scale (of deeds). 3. To Him, the deeds of the night are raised before the deeds of the day, and the deeds of the day are raised before the deeds of the night. 4. His veil is light. In another narration, His veil is fire. 5. If He were to remove that veil, the radiance of His Face would burn all of creation as far as His gaze reaches.
