Narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Khaybar during the expedition, and we performed the morning prayer near Khaybar in darkness. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted (his ride), and Sayyiduna Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) also mounted, and I was riding behind Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Khaybar on his mount, and my knee was touching the thigh of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (because) the cloth had slipped from the thigh of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was seeing the whiteness of his thigh. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the settlement (Khaybar), he proclaimed, “Allahu Akbar! Khaybar is destroyed,” meaning Allah is the Greatest and Khaybar is ruined. And he said, “When we descend in the courtyard (field) of a people (then the morning of those who were warned of Allah’s punishment is an evil one).” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) proclaimed this three times. Sayyiduna Anas said that the people (the Jews) were going about their work. (When they saw the army and heard the voice of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)), they said, “By Allah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) has arrived with his army.” Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we conquered Khaybar by force and the captives were gathered in one place. Then Sayyiduna Dihyah Kalbi (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said, “O Messenger of Allah! Give me a slave woman from among the captives.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Go and take any slave woman you wish.” He chose Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) (who was among the captives) and took her. Then a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, “O Messenger of Allah, you have given Dihyah (may Allah be pleased with him) Safiyyah bint Huyayy, who is the daughter of the chief of Banu Qurayzah and Banu Nadir; she is only suitable for you.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Call Dihyah (may Allah be pleased with him) and that slave woman.” They brought Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her). When the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her), he said (to Dihyah (may Allah be pleased with him)), “Take any other slave woman besides Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her).” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and married her. Thabit asked Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), “O Abu Hamzah, how much did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) give her as mahr (dowry)?” Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, “Her mahr was her own self, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed her and married her (this freedom was her mahr).” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was still on the journey when Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) adorned and prepared Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) and brought her to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). In the morning, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the state of a bridegroom. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever has any food, let him bring it.” And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spread a cloth, so someone brought cheese, someone brought dates, and someone brought ghee. The Companions mixed all these things and made hasees (a dish) and ate it. This was the wedding feast (walimah) of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
