Hadith 774

The conqueror of Persia, Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I declare the area between the two black stones as a sanctuary (Haram), so that no thorny tree should be cut there, nor should any game be hunted there. And he said: Madinah is better for them, if only they understood (this address is to those who leave Madinah for other places, or to all Muslims). And no one turns away from residing in Madinah out of aversion except that Allah brings someone better than him to it. And no one endures its hunger, thirst, and hardship with patience except that I will be his intercessor or witness on the Day of Resurrection.
