Abu Qaz'ah narrates that Abdul Malik bin Marwan was performing Tawaf of the House of Allah, and he said: "May Allah destroy Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), for he used to fabricate lies against Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), and he used to say that he heard her say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'O Aisha! If your people had not recently abandoned disbelief, I would have demolished the Ka'bah and included the Hijr (Hatim) within it, because your people have left out a portion of the Ka'bah's structure.'" (Upon hearing this) Harith said: "O Commander of the Faithful! Do not say so, for I too heard Umm al-Mu'mineen (may Allah be pleased with her) narrate this hadith." So Abdul Malik said: "If I had heard this hadith before demolishing the Ka'bah, I would have maintained the foundation of Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him)."
