Hadith 717

Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: Umm al-Mu’minin Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her) sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the night of Muzdalifah to return to Mina before him and to get ahead of the crowd, and she was a rather heavy (i.e., stout) woman. The narrator said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted her permission, so she departed before the return of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and we stayed until we had performed the morning prayer and then returned with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). (Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa, may Allah be pleased with her, says:) If I had also sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as Sawda (may Allah be pleased with her) did, and had left with his permission, it would have been good, and even better than that which made me happy.
