Ibn Jurayj says: I asked Ata, "Have you heard Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) say that you have been commanded to perform Tawaf, but not commanded to enter the Ka'bah?" Ata said: "He does not prohibit entering it, but I heard him say: Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered the Ka'bah, he supplicated in every direction and did not pray inside. Then when he came out, he prayed two rak'ahs in front of the Qiblah and said: 'This is the Qiblah.' I asked him: 'What is the ruling about its sides and what is the ruling about praying in its corners?' He said: 'Every side of the Sacred House is Qiblah.'"
