´Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that` the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set out for Hajj and we were with him. Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told some of his companions, among whom was Abu Qatadah, "You take the route along the seashore until you meet me." Then those people took the route along the seashore. Then, when they turned towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), all of them entered into the state of Ihram except Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him), who did not enter into Ihram. In short, as they were traveling on the way, they saw some wild donkeys, and Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) attacked them and cut the shanks of one of the donkeys. Then all his companions dismounted and ate its meat. Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we ate the (hunted) meat while we were in the state of Ihram. He says, then we took the remaining meat with us, and when we reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! We had entered into Ihram, and Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) had not entered into Ihram. Then we saw some wild donkeys, and Abu Qatadah attacked them and cut the shanks of one of them, so we dismounted and all of us ate its meat. Then we thought that we are eating the meat of hunted game while we are in Ihram? So we have brought the remaining meat with us." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Did any of you order him to do so or point towards it?" Abu Qatadah says! So they replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then eat the remaining meat (and there is no harm in it)."
