Hadith 675

Narrated from Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for the Farewell Pilgrimage, and some of us entered into ihram for ‘Umrah and some for Hajj. When we reached Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever has entered into ihram for ‘Umrah and has not brought a sacrificial animal, let him exit ihram; and whoever has entered into ihram for ‘Umrah and has brought a sacrificial animal, let him not exit ihram until he has slaughtered his sacrifice; and whoever has entered into ihram for Hajj, let him complete his Hajj. Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I began menstruating and remained in that state until the Day of ‘Arafah, and I had only entered into ihram for ‘Umrah. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed me to abandon the ‘Umrah and enter into ihram for Hajj. She said: So I did so. When the Hajj was completed, he sent with me ‘Abdur Rahman (bin Abi Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him) so that I could go to Tan‘im and perform ‘Umrah (by entering into ihram), the ‘Umrah which I had not completed and for which I had entered into ihram before entering into ihram for Hajj.
