Hadith 674

Salim bin Abdullah narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj Tamattu’ in the Farewell Hajj by combining Umrah with Hajj, and he offered a sacrifice, and he had brought the sacrificial animals with him from Dhu’l-Hulayfah. In the beginning, he proclaimed the Talbiyah for Umrah, then proclaimed the Talbiyah for Hajj, and likewise, the people also benefited from combining Umrah with Hajj along with him. Among the people, some had sacrificial animals with them, and some did not. Then, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached Makkah, he said to the people: Whoever has brought a sacrificial animal with him, he should not make anything lawful for himself from those things which are forbidden due to Ihram until he completes the Hajj. And whoever has not brought a sacrificial animal, he should perform Tawaf of the House of Allah, and Sa’i between Safa and Marwah, then cut his hair and come out of Ihram. Then (on the eighth of Dhu’l-Hijjah) he should proclaim the Talbiyah for Hajj, and after Hajj, he should offer a sacrifice, and whoever cannot find a sacrifice, he should fast three days during Hajj and seven days when he returns home. And when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Makkah, he first kissed the Black Stone, then ran for three circuits out of seven (which is called Raml), and walked for four circuits (as is customary). Then, when he finished the Tawaf, he performed two rak’ahs at the Station of Ibrahim. Then he completed the prayer and sat on Safa, and performed Sa’i seven times between Safa and Marwah. Then he did not make anything lawful for himself from those things which were forbidden due to Ihram until he had completely finished the Hajj, and he slaughtered his sacrifice on the Day of Sacrifice, i.e., the tenth of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and after coming to Makkah, he performed the Tawaf of Ifadah of the House of Allah. Then he made everything lawful for himself which had been forbidden in Ihram. And those people who had brought sacrificial animals with them did exactly as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had done.
