Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna ‘Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Hell and turned his face away out of dislike. Then he said, “Protect yourselves from the Fire (the Fire of Hell).” Then he turned his face away out of dislike, until we thought that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was looking at it (the Fire of Hell). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Protect yourselves from Hell—even if it be with half a date (by giving it in charity). If someone does not find even that, then (let him protect himself) by saying a good word.”
