Hadith 513

Sayyiduna Rafi’ bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Abu Sufyan, Safwan, ‘Uyainah, and Aqra’ bin Habis one hundred camels each, and gave ‘Abbas bin Mirdas (may Allah be pleased with him) a little less. So ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) recited these verses: (Translation) “You (peace and blessings be upon him) have set my share and that of my horse, whose name was ‘Ubayd, between ‘Uyainah and Aqra’, even though ‘Uyainah and Aqra’ cannot surpass Mirdas (i.e., me) in any gathering, and I am not less than either of them. And today, whoever’s word is put down will not be raised again.” Sayyiduna Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says that then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) completed his hundred camels.
