Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed some wealth, so I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Give it to so-and-so, for he is a believer.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Or he is a Muslim.” I said this three times, that he is a believer, and each time the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Or he is a Muslim.” Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “I give to a person while I love someone else more than him, fearing that Allah may throw him on his face into the Hellfire.”
