Hadith 469

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon one day and mentioned one of his companions who had passed away. He had been given a shroud that did not cover his private parts, and he was buried at night. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, expressed displeasure at his being buried at night, as he, peace and blessings be upon him, had not performed his funeral prayer. However, when a person is compelled (by necessity), it is excused. And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: When any of you gives a shroud to his brother, he should give a good shroud (so that it covers his entire body well).
