Tariq bin Shihab says that the first person to begin the sermon before the prayer on the day of Eid was Marwan (the son of Hakam, who was the first caliph among the Umayyad caliphs). At that time, a man stood up and said that the prayer is before the sermon. Marwan said that this matter has been discontinued. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said that this man has fulfilled his duty. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever among you sees an evil (an act against the Shari'ah), let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do even that, then with his heart (i.e., consider it evil in his heart and be averse to it). That is the weakest level of faith.
