Mukhtasar Muslim

'Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when we used to pray with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), at the end of the prayer we would say "As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah" to the right and to the left, while also gesturing with our hands. Upon seeing this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You gesture with your hands as if they are the tails of mischievous horses moving. It is sufficient for you to place your hands on your thighs in the sitting position and turn your face to the right and to the left, saying 'As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.'"
