It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he states: We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he said: Tell me about the tree which resembles a believer (Muslim) or is like a Muslim man, (its sign is that) its leaves do not fall, it bears fruit at all times. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: It occurred to my heart that it is the date-palm tree, and I saw that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) were not saying anything, so I did not think it appropriate to speak or say anything. (Later, the Prophet peace be upon him mentioned the date-palm tree. And Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) mentioned this to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)), so Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you had spoken at that time, it would have been dearer to me than such and such things. (That is, I would have been very pleased.)
