Hadith 2178

‘Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Shikhkhir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and he was reciting: “The mutual rivalry for piling up (worldly things) diverts you.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: A man says, “My wealth, my wealth,” but O man! What is your wealth? Your wealth is only that which you have eaten and consumed, or worn and worn out, or given in charity and sent ahead (for the Day of Resurrection).
