Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Alqamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We went to Syria, and Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) came to us and said, "Is there anyone among you who recites according to the recitation of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him)?" I said, "Yes! I am." He said, "How do you recite this verse: (By the night as it envelops)?" I said, "Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to recite it like this: (By the night as it envelops, and by the male and the female)." He said, "By Allah! I also heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite it like this, and the people here want me to recite: (And by Him Who created the male and the female), but I do not accept their way."
