Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The angels were created from light, the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire, and our master Adam (peace be upon him) from that which has been described in the Qur’an (i.e., from clay).
