Mukhtasar Muslim

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: On the Day of Resurrection, death will be brought in the form of a white ram and it will be placed between Hell and Paradise. Then it will be said, "O people of Paradise! Do you recognize this?" They will raise their heads, look at it, and say, "Yes! We recognize it, it is death." Then it will be said, "O people of Hell! Do you recognize this?" They too will raise their heads, look at it, and say, "Yes! We recognize it, it is death." Then it will be ordered that the ram be slaughtered. Then it will be said, "O people of Paradise! You will live forever and there will never be death for you, and O people of Hell! You too will live forever and there will never be death for you." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "And warn them of the Day of Regret when the matter will be decided, and they are in heedlessness and do not believe." He (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards the world with his hand (meaning, they are so engrossed in the world that they have no fear of the Day of Resurrection).
