Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) one day said to his companions: "Do you know where this sun goes?" They said, "Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It keeps moving until it reaches its resting place under the Throne, where it falls down in prostration (the reality of this prostration is known only to Allah Almighty). Then it remains in that state until it is commanded: 'Rise and return to where you came from.' So it returns and emerges from its rising place. Then it keeps moving until it reaches its resting place under the Throne and prostrates. Then it remains in that state until it is told: 'Rise and return to where you came from.' It then emerges from its rising place again. And it continues in this way. One day it will move in the same manner and people will not notice any difference in its movement until it reaches its resting place under the Throne. At that time, it will be said to it: 'Rise and emerge from the west, from where you set.' So it will emerge from the west." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you know when this will be? (i.e., the sun rising from the west) It will be at that time 'when no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or had not earned any good through its faith.'"
