Mukhtasar Muslim

Tariq bin Shihab says that a Jew came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "O Commander of the Faithful! There is a verse in your Book which you recite; if it had been revealed to us Jews, we would have taken that day as a festival." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Which verse?" The Jew replied, "Today I have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I know the day on which this verse was revealed and the place where it was revealed. This verse was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of Arafat on a Friday (and that day was a combination of two festivals for the Muslims: one was Friday and the other was the Day of Arafah)."
