Hadith 2132

Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Jubair says that I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them), "Can the repentance of one who deliberately kills a believer be accepted?" Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "No." I recited to him the verse from Surah Al-Furqan: ((And those who do not invoke...)) to the end, after which it says: ((Except for those who repent...)) (because from this it appears that after unjust killing, repentance is possible). Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "This verse is Makki and it has been abrogated by the verse which was revealed in Madinah: 'Whoever deliberately kills a believer, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide forever.'"
