Sayyiduna Abu Abdur Rahman Hubli says: I heard from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him), and a person asked him, "Are we not among the poor emigrants?" Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Do you have a wife with whom you live?" He replied, "Yes, I have." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Do you have a house in which you live?" He replied, "Yes, I have." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Then you are among the rich." He said, "I also have a servant." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Then you are among the kings." Abu Abdur Rahman said: Three men came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) while I was present with him. They said, "O Muhammad! By Allah, we have nothing available to us—neither expenses, nor ride, nor provisions." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Whatever you wish, I will do. If you wish, come to us, and we will give you what Allah has written in your destiny. And if you wish, we will mention your case to the king. And if you wish, be patient, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'The needy emigrants will enter Paradise forty years before the wealthy.'" They said, "We will be patient and ask for nothing."
