Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Salim says: I heard Ya’qub bin ‘Asim bin ‘Urwah bin Mas’ud al-Thaqafi say that I heard ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with them) say, and a man came to him and said: “What is this hadith that you narrate, that the Hour will occur after such and such period?” He (‘Abdullah) (astonished) said: “Subhan Allah, or La ilaha illallah, or he said some other similar phrase, and then said: I think now I will not narrate any hadith to anyone (because people say things and defame me). I only said that after a few days you will see a great event that will burn the house, and it will surely happen.” Then he said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘The Dajjal will emerge among my Ummah and will remain for forty.’ I do not know whether he said forty days, or forty months, or forty years. Then Allah, the Exalted, will send ‘Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon them), and his appearance will be like that of ‘Urwah bin Mas’ud. He will search for the Dajjal and kill him. Then for seven years, people will live in such a state that there will be no enmity between any two persons. Then Allah, the Exalted, will send a cool wind from the direction of Syria, and there will not remain on the earth anyone in whose heart is even the weight of a mustard seed of faith or goodness, but that wind will take his soul. So much so that if any of you were to enter into the heart of a mountain, that wind would reach him there and take his soul.” Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Then only the worst of people will remain in the world, hasty or foolish like birds, and their character will be like wild beasts. They will not recognize good as good, nor evil as evil. Then Satan will come to them in a form and say: Will you not obey me? They will say: What do you command us? He will say: Worship idols. They will worship idols, and despite that, their sustenance will be abundant and they will live in comfort. Then the Trumpet will be blown, and no one will hear it but will bend his neck to one side and raise it from the other (i.e., he will fall unconscious), and the first to hear the Trumpet will be the one who is plastering the trough of his camels. He will fall unconscious, and the other people will also fall unconscious. Then Allah, the Exalted, will send down rain like semen, and from it, people’s bodies will grow. Then the Trumpet will be blown again, and all the people will stand up looking on. Then it will be proclaimed: O people! Come to your Lord, and make them stand, surely they will be questioned.’ (__QUR_N__) Then it will be said: ‘Take out a group for Hell.’ It will be asked: ‘How many?’ It will be commanded: ‘From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine (and from every thousand, one will be of Paradise).’ The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘This is the day that will make children old (from its terror and calamity or its length), and this is the day when the shin will be uncovered (i.e., there will be hardship, or Allah, the Exalted, will reveal His shin on the Day of Resurrection, at which the believers will fall in prostration).’
