Hadith 2041

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him):
We set out for Hajj or Umrah and Ibn Sayyad was with us. At one stop, we camped, people dispersed here and there, and only Ibn Sayyad and I remained. I felt great unease because of what people used to say about him (that he was the Dajjal). Ibn Sayyad brought his belongings and placed them with mine (which made me even more uneasy). I said, "It is very hot; if you put your belongings under that tree, it would be better." He did so. Then we saw some goats. Ibn Sayyad went and brought some milk and said, "Abu Sa'id! Drink the milk." I said, "It is very hot and the milk is warm," and there was no other reason for not drinking except that I disliked drinking from his hand. Ibn Sayyad said, "O Abu Sa'id! I have intended to take a rope, hang it from a tree, and hang myself because of what people say about me. O Abu Sa'id! Is the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) more hidden from anyone than it is from you Ansar? Do you not know the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) better than anyone else? Did he not say that the Dajjal would be a disbeliever, and I am a Muslim? Did he not say that the Dajjal would be childless, and my children are in Madinah? Did he not say that the Dajjal would not enter Madinah or Makkah, and I am coming from Madinah and going to Makkah?" Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Because of such words from him, I was about to become his supporter (and consider what people said about him to be wrong), but then he said, 'By Allah! I know the Dajjal, and I know his place of birth, and I also know where he is now.' I said to him, 'Woe to you all day (meaning, what have you said, now I have become doubtful about you again).'"
