Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Nafi’ bin Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a battle, when some people came to him from the west, wearing woolen clothes. They met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) near a mound. Those people were standing and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting. My heart said: Go and stand between those people and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), lest they, by deceit, kill the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then my heart said: Perhaps the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is secretly talking to them (and my going there would be unpleasant to him). Then I went and stood between those people and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So I remembered four things from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at that time, which I counted on my hand. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: First, you will fight (the disbelievers) in the Arabian Peninsula, and Allah will grant victory over it. Then you will fight the Persians (Iranians), and Allah will grant victory over them as well. Then you will fight the Christians, the Romans, and Allah will grant victory over Rome as well. Then you will fight the Dajjal, and Allah will grant victory over him too. (This hadith is a great miracle of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.) Nafi’ said: O Jabir bin Samurah! We think that the Dajjal will emerge only after Rome is conquered.
