‘Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, “The night and day will not end until Lat and ‘Uzza (idols of the age of ignorance) are worshipped again.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! I thought that when Allah revealed this verse: ‘Allah is He Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion so that He may make it prevail over all religions, even though the polytheists may dislike it,’ that this promise would be fulfilled (and no religion except Islam would remain dominant).” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “It will remain as long as Allah wills. Then Allah will send a pure wind by which every believer will die, even every person in whose heart there is faith equal to a grain. Only those people will remain in whom there will be no goodness. Then those people will return to the religion of their (polytheist) forefathers.”
