´Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that` the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated from his Lord that a servant committed a sin and said, "O Allah! Forgive my sin." Allah said, "My servant has committed a sin, then he realized that he has a Master who forgives sins and holds accountable for sins." Then he committed a sin again and said, "O my Master! Forgive my sin." Allah said, "My servant has committed a sin and he realized that he has a Lord who forgives sins and holds accountable for sins." Then he committed a sin again and said, "O my Sustainer! Forgive my sin." Allah said, "My servant has committed a sin and he realized that he has a God who forgives sins and holds accountable for sins. O servant! Now do whatever you wish, I have forgiven you." (The narrator of the hadith) Abdul A'la said, "I do not remember whether this 'Now do whatever you wish' was said the third time or the fourth time."
