Hadith 1933

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he smiled. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Do you know why I smiled?" We said, "Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) know best." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I smiled because of the conversation a servant will have with his Lord. The servant will say, 'O my Lord! Did You not grant me protection from injustice?' (Meaning, You promised not to wrong me.) The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, Allah the Exalted will reply, 'Yes! We do not wrong.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, then the servant will say, 'I do not accept the testimony of anyone against me except my own self.' Allah the Exalted will say, 'Fine! Your own self's testimony is sufficient against you today, and the testimony of the noble recording angels.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, then a seal will be set upon the servant's mouth and his limbs (hands and feet) will be ordered to speak. They will speak of all his deeds. Then the servant will be allowed to speak, and he will say to his limbs (hands and feet), 'Go away from me! May Allah's curse be upon you! I was arguing for your sake (meaning, I only wanted to save you from Hellfire, but you yourselves have confessed to the sin, so now go to Hell).'"
