Hadith 1899

Suhail says that when any of us was about to sleep, Abu Salih would instruct him to lie on his right side and recite this supplication: "O Allah! Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, Lord of the Mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of everything, Splitter of the grain and the date-stone (for sprouting), Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel, and the Noble Qur'an! I seek refuge in You from the evil of everything whose forelock You hold (that is, which is under Your control). You are the First, there is nothing before You; You are the Last, there is nothing after You (that is, You are Eternal and Everlasting); You are the Most High, there is nothing above You; and You are the Most Near (Hidden), there is nothing nearer (more hidden) than You. Remove debt from us and enrich us from poverty." Abu Salih narrated this supplication from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah narrated it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
