Mukhtasar Muslim

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: I am as My servant thinks of Me (that is, according to his assumption and expectation of Me. Nawawi said: meaning, I am with him in forgiveness and acceptance). And I am with My servant (with mercy, success, guidance, and protection) when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in his heart, I also remember him in My heart. And if he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a gathering better than his (that is, in the gathering of angels). And when My servant comes near to Me by a handspan, I come near to him by an arm's length. And when he comes near to Me by an arm's length, I come near to him by a fathom (the span of both arms outstretched). And when he comes to Me walking, I come to him running.
